They Are Putting Armed Guards On Food Trucks In Venezuela

They Are Putting Armed Guards On Food Trucks In Venezuela

armed guards venezuelaBy Michael Snyder

We are watching what happens when the economy of a developed nation totally implodes.  Just a few years ago, Venezuela was the wealthiest nation in all of South America, and they still have more proven oil reserves than anyone else on the entire planet including Saudi Arabia.  But now people down there are so hungry and so desperate that some of them are actually hunting dogs, cats and pigeons for food.  Just a few days ago, I gave a talk down at Morningside during which I warned that someday we would see armed guards on food trucks in America.  After that talk was done, I went back up to my room and I came across a New York Times article which had been republished by MSN that explained that this exact thing is already happening down in Venezuela…

With delivery trucks under constant attack, the nation’s food is now transported under armed guard. Soldiers stand watch over bakeries. The police fire rubber bullets at desperate mobs storming grocery stores, pharmacies and butcher shops. A 4-year-old girl was shot to death as street gangs fought over food.

Venezuela is convulsing from hunger.

Hundreds of people here in the city of Cumaná, home to one of the region’s independence heroes, marched on a supermarket in recent days, screaming for food. They forced open a large metal gate and poured inside. They snatched water, flour, cornmeal, salt, sugar, potatoes, anything they could find, leaving behind only broken freezers and overturned shelves.

All over the country, people are standing in extremely long lines day after day hoping to get some food. Sometimes the food trucks don’t bring anything, and sometimes it is just scraps like fish heads and rotten fruit. To get a better idea of what life is like in Venezuela right now, just check out this YouTube video…

As people down in Venezuela get hungrier and hungrier, extreme desperation is setting in. And with extreme desperation comes crime and violence…

A 4-year-old girl, Britani Lara, was reportedly shot to death Tuesday in the Caracas suburb of Guatire as she stood in line with her mother outside a government-owned Mercal grocery store.
El Nacional newspaper reported that gangs on motorcycles have fought over the right to control and distribute food at the Guatire store and that the gunfire may have been a result of that dispute. Eight others were reportedly injured in the incident.

Violence also was reported at a food protest staged in front of a store in the city of Cariaco in central Sucre state, where 21-year-old Luis Fuentes was killed by a gunshot. Eleven others were wounded, according to El Nacional newspaper.

Could you imagine living in a nation where all this is going on?

Most Americans could not even conceive of such a thing. But of course the truth is that up until just recently most Venezuelans could not either. In fact, just a couple years ago Venezuela was one of the most prosperous nations in all of South America…

Two years ago, Venezuela was a normal functioning nation, relatively speaking of course. It was by no means a free country, but the people still had a standard of living that was higher than most developing nations. Venezuelans could still afford the basic necessities of life, and a few luxuries too.

They could send their children to school and expect them to receive a reasonably good education, and they could go to the hospital and expect to be effectively treated with the same medical standards you’d find in a developed nation. They could go to the grocery store and buy whatever they needed, and basic government services like law enforcement and infrastructure maintenance worked fairly well. The system was far from perfect, but it worked for the most part.

There are all sorts of signs that the thin veneer of civilization that we all take for granted in the United States is starting to crumble as well.  If you follow End Of The American Dream on a regular basis, you know that I post articles about this theme all the time.  But today I just want to share one tidbit with you.  Reuters is reporting that the number of heroin users in this country has nearly tripled since 2003, and the number of heroin-related deaths is now about five times higher than it was in the year 2000…

A heroin “epidemic” is gripping the United States, where cheap supply has helped push the number of users to a 20-year high, increasing drug-related deaths, the United Nations said on Thursday.

According to the U.N.’s World Drug Report 2016, the number of heroin users in the United States reached around one million in 2014, almost three times as many as in 2003. Heroin-related deaths there have increased five-fold since 2000.

“There is really a huge epidemic (of) heroin in the U.S.,” said Angela Me, the chief researcher for the report which was released on Thursday.

Just like Venezuela, our society is rotting, too.  As I have warned before, the exact same things that are happening down there right now are coming here, too. It is just a matter of time.

On a side note, I would like to congratulate the British people for voting for independence from the European Union.  As I have been writing this article, the results have been coming in, and at this point it looks like victory is virtually assured for the “Leave” campaign.

I would have voted “Leave” myself if I lived in the United Kingdom, but let there be no doubt about what comes next.  Uncertainty and chaos are going to reign in European financial markets, and we have already seen the biggest one day drop in the history of the British pound.  There is going to be short-term economic and financial pain, but the people of the United Kingdom have done the right thing for their children and their grandchildren, and for that they are to be applauded.

Venezuela Is Out Of Food: Here’s What An Economic Collapse Really Looks Like

Venezuela foodBy Daisy Luther

Venezuela is out of food.

After several years of long lines, rationing, and shortages, the socialist country does not have enough food to feed its population, and the opposition government has declared a “nutritional emergency.” This is just the most recent nail in the beleaguered country’s slow, painful economic collapse.

Many people expect an economic collapse to be shocking, instant, and dramatic but, really, it’s far more gradual than that. It looks like empty shelves, long lines, desperate government officials trying to cover their tushes, and hungry people. For the past two years, I’ve been following the situation in Venezuela as each shocking event has unfolded. Americans who feel that our country would be better served by a socialist government would be wise to take note of this timeline of the collapse.

A quick review: Why Venezuela Is Out of Food

In 2013, many began to suspect that the outlook for Venezuela was grim when prepping became illegal.  The Attorney General of Venezuela, Luisa Ortega Díaz, called on prosecutors to target people who are “hoarding” basic staples with serious sanctions.

Shortly thereafter, grocery stores instituted a fingerprint registry to purchase food and supplies. Families had to register and were allotted a certain amount of supplies to prevent “hoarding.”

Then, just over a year ago, it became even more apparent that the country was falling when long lines for basic necessities such as laundry soap, diapers, and food became the norm rather than the exception. Thousands of people were standing in line for 5-6 hours in the hopes that they would be able to purchase a few much-needed items.

Shortly after the story broke to the rest of the world, the propaganda machine shifted into high gear.  As the government began to ration electricity, it was announced that this was not due to economic reasons at all, but instead was a measure of their great concern for the environment.

As the situation continued to devolve, farmers in Venezuela were forced to hand over their crops last summer. They assumed control of essential goods like food, and began putting retail outlets out of business. Then, once they had control of the sales outlets, they began forcing farmers and food manufacturers to sell anywhere from 30-100% of their products to the state at the price the state opted to pay, as opposed to stores and supermarkets.

But that wasn’t enough to keep the population fed. (Isn’t it astonishing how much less motivated people are to produce food and supplies when they are no longer allowed to benefit from their hard work? Historically, collectivism and farming have never gone successfully hand in hand.) This January, the government told citizens that they would need to produce their own food. The Ministry of Urban Farming was created to oversee this. While self-reliance sounds great, it isn’t so great in Venezuela. Just so the urban farmers don’t get too self-reliant, a registry of the crops and livestock will be required. (And obviously, they’ve already proven that they have no issue forcing farmers to hand over what they’ve produced.)

Now, it looks like all of the socialist measures and forced food production haven’t been enough to keep the people of Venezuela fed. The country is in so much trouble now that it isn’t possible to cover it up with propaganda.

According to Breitbart.com, lawmakers have learned nothing.

Socialist legislators are hoping to manipulate the initiative in the other direction, and use it to expand government control of private food enterprises. Legislator Héctor Rodríguez has insisted that the economic emergency “does absolutely nothing,” and the government should impose itself on private enterprises. Another socialist legislator, Ricardo Molina, is calling for the government to expropriate Polar, Venezuela’s largest private food corporation: “we have to intervene on private sector enterprises.”

Venezuela previously forced a Polar food distribution center in Caracas to shut down in July, putting 12,000 tons of food, six million liters of soft drinks, and 2,000 jobs at risk.

And now, the announcement of the “nutritional emergency” makes it official. Venezuela is out of food, and it’s only a matter of time before Venezuelans are quite literally starving due to a long series of terrible decisions by their leaders.

As the economic collapse accelerates, home invasions for FOOD start appearing in the press... hungry people raiding homes incite NJ chaos

Monday, April 25, 2016 by: Sarah Landers

(NaturalNews) According to a heartbreaking report by All Self Sustained, an elderly man was threatened with a knife last month by a man and a woman in a home invasion – the pair were looking to steal food.

71-year-old Luis Rosales answered the door of his New Jersey apartment in the afternoon and was confronted by a man and woman who were armed with an eight-inch kitchen knife. The pair forced themselves inside, threatening Rosales with death if he made too much noise.

The suspects used pepper spray to affect Rosales' vision before ransacking his apartment and raiding his fridge, telling Rosales that they were hungry. They also took his wallet.

A sign of things to come?
The report shows that a combination of "the economy and lack of social civility" has started to reach a level where US citizens are now robbing food from other people, as reported by All Self Sustained. This might only be the beginning – the economy is on the verge of collapse; unemployment continues to be a major problem; and wage growth is stagnant.

It is thought that 45 million Americans are now relying upon food stamps, and civil uprising caused by the removal of government-issued food stamps is considered to be a huge threat to society as we know it. And it's not just the US economy that's suffering – the world economy is also in complete crisis.

According to the World Socialist Web Site, more than 1 million people in the US may soon lose their government food stamp benefits if they fail to meet work requirements. In a government move that could stimulate the economy by encouraging employment while saving taxpayer money, there will soon be a three-month limit on food stamp benefits for unemployed adults aged 18–49 who are not classified as disabled or raising minors; critics, however, claim the move could increase crime and hunger.

The recent home invasion by the suspects searching for food reinforces the idea that hunger and food insecurity are on the rise. According to statistics by Feeding America, as reported by the World Socialist Web Site, 48.1 million Americans are currently living in a food-insecure household. Food banks gave away 4 billion pounds of food last year, and on the basis of the cutoffs being implemented soon, social service and food banks are preparing for a massive influx of hungry people.

American Conservative Daily News reports that the US is on the verge of the "greatest food crisis in history," explaining that certain types of food are already becoming more difficult to find and that the price of certain foods, for example meat, has shot up. The cost of eating has increased at a time when the economy is in collapse and this will mean an increased risk of riots and civil unrest – as well as an increase in the number of hungry Americans.

Crime rates will increase as well, as seen by the recent home invasion, meaning that there could be some very dark times ahead if the economy does not improve. As there could be tough times ahead, it's important that you prepare to become self-reliant now. Learn more by signing up for the Self Reliance Summit!

Alarm Bells Ringing: Chaos Over Food In New Jersey US News

Alarm Bells Ringing: Chaos Over Food In New Jersey

upload.jpg
A recent story from Susan Duclos on ANP told us that internet outages across America are now increasing in frequency, leading her to ask if 'BETA tests' are being conducted on the internet 'kill switch' which will most likely be used if mass civil unrest breaks out across the country. In fact, as we're told by our videographer in the 1st video below, FEMA, the DHS, and the US Air Force are all conducting massive riot control drills and operations around the same time as 'Democracy Spring', massive threats of earthquakes and natural disasters unlike anything we've seen in most of our lifetimes. Is all of this just a coincidence or should alarm bells be ringing?

The story on Monday from Natural News tells us that hungry people in New Jersey had begun raiding other people's homes looking for food and inciting just the kind of chaos that Susan previously warned us about. Though on a much smaller scale than the nationwide riot/collapse preparation that is now taking place across the country according to this recent story from Don't Comply, we're reminded that the well distracted public are focused upon bathroom use rights, celebrities and debating who'll be the next leader of this fledgling Republic while it is quickly being turned into a 'totalitarian police state'.

As Alex Jones of Infowars asks in the 2nd video below, will societal meltdown lead to the collapse of America and are we now witnessing the 'beginning of the end'? Jones reminds us that all great nations eventually fall and the United States will not be an exception, especially considering the direction we're now rapidly heading.

upload.jpg
While ANP has been quick to report upon the huge difference between a 'dictatorial, totalitarian police state', which we are completely against, and our public servants who we fully support, the brave men and women who serve our communities, cities and states and country every day across the nation while putting their own lives at risk, unfortunately there is a great potential for crossover. With law enforcement agencies all across the world now purchasing riot control gear 'en masse', we see more proof that preparation is taking place at the highest levels for the collapse of the current economic system and the total breakdown of society and as Gregory Mannarino tells us in the 3rd video below, we have reached 'situation critical' and a 'financial monster' is now among us.

All of this provides us with more reasons to be 'prepared' for what is undoubtedly coming, possibly as soon as October according to Bill Holter who warned in this story by Susan Duclos at ANP that the entire system may come down within 48 hours if we see a big enough failure somewhere within the system:

"This is the end game; these are the end days of the current system; not so sure we are going to get to October" before the entire system closes.

As 'preppers', we have a great opportunity to 'assist' law and order since 'preppers' will not be among those rioting in the streets for food or breaking into others homes or stores looking for ways to feed our families. While a countless number of Americans who didn't prepare for a future involving collapse will surely involve themselves in breaking the law, preppers will be the ones who help to 'maintain the law' and certainly won't be assisting those who are in the streets causing havoc.

upload.jpg
The signs of impending collapse continue to unfold all around us. When looking at the study below of riot gear purchases across the world, the one thing that stands out to us more than anything else is the fact that, despite nations such as Iran, Egypt, Russia, China and Thailand procuring massive amounts of riot control gear, the largest region for riot control systems is the Americas. What do they know that the majority of the American people DON'T know? 'Preppers' clearly know at least part of what government knows. From NewsMaker.com via SandlerResearch.org:

The analysts forecast the global riot control system market to grow at a CAGR of 5.3% during the period 2016-2020. According to the report, demand for small UAVs in law enforcement is driving the market growth. UAVs are equipped with a broad range of systems such as airframe, autopilot, navigation system, sensor package, and communications links. There is an increased demand for UAVs globally, owing to its wide range of applications in the civil, commercial, and military market.

Law enforcement agencies around the world are the biggest market for riot control systems. This market is expected to generate revenues of over USD 3.5 billion by the end of 2020. Countries such as the US, Iran, Egypt, Russia, China, and Thailand have started procuring riot control equipment and are investing heavily in NWLs. Moreover, special vehicles that are equipped with water cannon and reservoirs have been designed for security personnel, for use in areas of conflict to handle large crowds and demonstration. Demand for such equipment is expected to rise during the next few years.

The largest region for riot control systems is the Americas, and forecasted growth of this region is a CAGR of just over 4%. In North America, the prominent markets are Canada and the US and the law enforcement agencies in these nations are best equipped with the upgraded weapons. The militarization of the police department and other law enforcement agencies in the Americas has encouraged the use of advanced riot control equipment. The disputed circumstances of shooting unarmed 18-year-old heightened existing protests and civil unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, US in 2014. Rifles, NWLs, and heavy vehicles were used to control the crowd and growing protests during this incident.

upload.jpg
The stories out in the last few days along include: "Former Air Force Officer Warns Of Atmospheric Spraying And The Coming Collapse" from Dane Wigington at his GeoEngineering Watch. "A Total Game Changer - From Over-Population To De-Population" from Zero Hedge who also published "A Bird's-Eye View Of How The US Economy Is Falling Apart (In 4 Simple Charts". Over at SHTFPlan, Doug Casey warns: "It's The Next Stage Of The Greater Depression...The Economy Is Going To Be Very, Very Bad"while Jeremiah Johnson at SHTFPlan tells us "Possible End Game: The United States Has Created A Climate That Could Easily Be Transformed Into A War".

Are we now witnessing signs of impending collapse and the 'end game' for America? The best that we can do as caring American citizens is to continue to prepare for collapse, for to do so is to prepare ones self and family for natural disasters, bank collapses, EMP, war or any other possible catastrophe that would shut down the entire system. All of this preparation for riots, civil unrest and mass social upheavel is clearly heading in a direction that soon will not be able to be undone. As Mannarino tells us, a 'financial monster' awaits us and is now among us. Only time separates now from the inevitable.

The Stock Markets Of The 10 Largest Global Economies Are All Crashing

Globe Interconnectedness

By Michael Snyder, on September 24th, 2015

You would think that the simultaneous crashing of all of the largest stock markets around the world would be very big news.  But so far the mainstream media in the United States is treating it like it isn’t really a big deal.  Over the last sixty days, we have witnessed the most significant global stock market decline since the fall of 2008, and yet most people still seem to think that this is just a temporary “bump in the road” and that the bull market will soon resume.  Hopefully they are right.  When the Dow Jones Industrial Average plummeted 777 points on September 29th, 2008 everyone freaked out and rightly so.  But a stock market crash doesn’t have to be limited to a single day.  Since the peak of the market earlier this year, the Dow is down almost three times as much as that 777 point crash back in 2008.  Over the last sixty days, we have seen the 8th largest single day stock market crash in U.S. history on a point basis and the 10th largest single day stock market crash in U.S. history on a point basis.  You would think that this would be enough to wake people up, but most Americans still don’t seem very alarmed.  And of course what has happened to U.S. stocks so far is quite mild compared to what has been going on in the rest of the world.

Right now, stock market wealth is being wiped out all over the planet, and none of the largest global economies have been exempt from this.  The following is a summary of what we have seen in recent days…

#1 The United States – The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down more than 2000 points since the peak of the market.  Last month we saw stocks decline by more than 500 points on consecutive trading days for the first time ever, and there has not been this much turmoil in U.S. markets since the fall of 2008.

#2 China – The Shanghai Composite Index has plummeted nearly 40 percent since hitting a peak earlier this year.  The Chinese economy is steadily slowing down, and we just learned that China’s manufacturing index has hit a 78 month low.

#3 Japan – The Nikkei has experienced extremely violent moves recently, and it is now down more than 3000 points from the peak that was hit earlier in 2015.  The Japanese economy and the Japanese financial system are both basket cases at this point, and it isn’t going to take much to push Japan into a full-blown financial collapse.

#4 Germany – Almost one-fourth of the value of German stocks has already been wiped out, and this crash threatens to get much worse.  The Volkswagen emissions scandal is making headlines all over the globe, and don’t forget to watch for massive trouble at Germany’s biggest bank.

#5 The United Kingdom – British stocks are down about 16 percent from the peak of the market, and the UK economy is definitely on shaky ground.

#6 France – French stocks have declined nearly 18 percent, and it has become exceedingly apparent that France is on the exact same path that Greece has already gone down.

#7 Brazil – Brazil is the epicenter of the South American financial crisis of 2015.  Stocks in Brazil have plunged more than 12,000 points since the peak, and the nation has already officially entered a new recession.

#8 Italy – Watch Italy.  Italian stocks are already down 15 percent, and look for the Italian economy to make very big headlines in the months ahead.

#9 India – Stocks in India have now dropped close to 4000 points, and analysts are deeply concerned about this major exporting nation as global trade continues to contract.

#10 Russia – Even though the price of oil has crashed, Russia is actually doing better than almost everyone else on this list.  Russian stocks have fallen by about 10 percent so far, and if the price of oil stays this low the Russian financial system will continue to suffer.

What we are witnessing now is the continuation of a cycle of financial downturns that has happened every seven years.  The following is a summary of how this cycle has played out over the past 50 years

  • It started in 1966 with a 20 percent stock market crash.
  • Seven years later, the market lost another 45 percent (1973-74).
  • Seven years later was the beginning of the “hard recession” (1980).
  • Seven years later was the Black Monday crash of 1987.
  • Seven years later was the bond market crash of 1994.
  • Seven years later was 9/11 and the 2001 tech bubble collapse.
  • Seven years later was the 2008 global financial collapse.
  • 2015: What’s next?

A lot of people were expecting something “big” to happen on September 14th and were disappointed when nothing happened.

But the truth is that it has never been about looking at any one particular day.  Over the past sixty days we have seen absolutely extraordinary things happen all over the planet, and yet some people are not even paying attention because they did not meet their preconceived notions of how events should play out.

And this is just the beginning.  We haven’t even gotten to the great derivatives crisis that is coming yet.  All of these things are going to take time to fully unfold.

A lot of people that write about “economic collapse” talk about it like it will be some type of “event” that will happen on a day or a week and then we will recover.

Well, that is not what it is going to be like.

You need to be ready to endure a very, very long crisis.  The suffering that is coming to this nation is beyond what most of us could even imagine.

Even now we are seeing early signs of it.  For instance, the mayor of Los Angeles says that the growth of homelessness in his city has gotten so bad that it is now“an emergency”

On Tuesday, Los Angeles officials announced the city’s homelessness problem has become an emergency, and proposed allotting $100 million to help shelter the city’s massive and growing indigent population.

LA Mayor Eric Garcetti also issued a directive on Monday evening for the city to free up $13 million to help house the estimated 26,000 people who are living on the city’s streets.

According to the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, the number of encampments and people living in vehicles has increased by 85% over the last two years alone.

And in recent years we have seen poverty absolutely explode all over the nation.  The “bread lines” of the Great Depression have been replaced with EBT cards, and there is a possibility that a government shutdown in October could “suspend or delay food stamp payments”

A government shutdown Oct. 1 could immediately suspend or delay food stamp payments to some of the 46 million Americans who receive the food aid.

The Agriculture Department said Tuesday that it will stop providing benefits at the beginning of October if Congress does not pass legislation to keep government agencies open.

“If Congress does not act to avert a lapse in appropriations, then USDA will not have the funding necessary for SNAP benefits in October and will be forced to stop providing benefits within the first several days of October,” said Catherine Cochran, a spokeswoman for USDA. “Once that occurs, families won’t be able to use these benefits at grocery stores to buy the food their families need.”

In the U.S. alone, there are tens of millions of people that could not survive without the help of the federal government, and more people are falling out of the middle class every single day.

Our economy is already falling apart all around us, and now another great financial crisis has begun.

When will the “nothing is happening” crowd finally wake up?

Hopefully it will be before they are sitting out on the street begging for spare change to feed their family.

Former UK govt. advisor: Stock up on food and supplies to survive the market crash (and ensuing social chaos)

Former UK govt. advisor: Stock up on food and supplies to survive the market crash (and ensuing social chaos)

(NaturalNews) Today the U.S. stock market opened with a more than 1,000 point plunge, followed by various ups and downs as market chaos took hold. After having lost more than 1,000 points last week, the Dow is now in serious "correction" territory, exhibiting behavior that indicates systemic fragility headed for a collapse (high volatility with wild swings in both directions).

A former high-level UK government advisor named Damian McBride has gone public with the same advice we've been urging readers to take seriously for years. In a series of tweets, McBride urged people to stock up on food and survival supplies to ride out the imminent social chaos that's now on a collision course with our delusional world.

Tweet #1: "Advice on the looming crash, No.1: get hard cash in a safe place now; don't assume banks & cashpoints will be open, or bank cards will work."

Tweet #2: "Crash advice No.2: do you have enough bottled water, tinned goods & other essentials at home to live a month indoors? If not, get shopping."

Tweet #3: "Crash advice No.3: agree a rally point with your loved ones in case transport and communication gets cut off; somewhere you can all head to."

McBride warns that the financial collapse now on a collision course with our world is 20 times worse than the near-collapse in 2008.

From the Independent UK:

Mr McBride credited his former boss Gordon Brown with preventing a cataclysm by nationalising the banking system during the 2008 crash.

"We were close enough in 2008 (if the bank bailout hadn't worked)," he said. "and what's coming is on 20 times that scale".

What does Damian McBride know that the mainstream media isn't reporting?

It's crystal clear from these tweets that McBride sees total social chaos being unleashed by the accelerating stock market crash. He's warning not just about financial events, but also food shortages, power grid failures, a collapse of transportation, the shuttering of banks and ATMs, etc.

These are the kind of events that happen when a financial crash becomes a systemic collapse of basic infrastructure.

They also happen to be descriptions of things that happen in a WAR. With China, Russia and the United States now engaged in a heated currency war that may have already gone "kinetic," all this begs the question: What does McBride know that his former employer -- the UK government -- isn't telling us?

Like all those who warn people to be prepared, McBride has of course been criticized for daring to tell people to stock up on supplies. Apparently, there exists a large number of suicidal morons in society who not only refuse to stock up on supplies for themselves; they actually hate it when other people stock up on supplies around them! But don't worry: If McBride's fears are correct, these anti-prepper idiots won't be around much longer to complain.

Unless you want to join them in an exercise of mass starvation and helplessness, you'd be wise to heed McBride's advice and make sure you cover the basics of preparedness now while you still can.
